Moshannon Valley School District is very excited to have been awarded a Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Grant at the Elementary School for the 21-22 School Year.
Moshannon Valley Elementary will have fresh fruits and vegetables available as part of this program. This is a great way to introduce a variety of tastes to the students. Students will also receive education on the benefits of healthy snacks. Also, a Fresh Fruits and Vegetable Menu will be posted on the cafeteria web site.Students will have the opportunity to enjoy such foods as fresh berries, bananas, apples, oranges, cherry tomatoes, green peppers, carrots, broccoli and cucumbers, just to name a few. This is a federally funded program. One of the goals of this program is to establish healthy eating habits in younger children that will hopefully continue throughout their lifetime. The school district will be applying each year for this grant and we are hopeful to be able to continue this great program. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mrs. Taylor Danko, The Nutrition Group Cafeteria Manager, at 378-7616, extension 2023; Mrs. Luann Perna, MVSD Food Service Director, at 378-7609, extension 3000; or Dr. Tracie Tomasko, Elementary Principal, at 378-7683, extension 1007.
