Symptoms of the flu include a fever, cough, sore throat & occasional body aches, as well as feeling tired, headache & stomachache. Keeping your child home when they are sick helps to prevent the spread of illness.

Before you send your child to school, ask yourself these questions:

         In the past 24 hours…

    ·         Did they have a fever?

    ·         Did they have diarrhea?

    ·         Did they throw up?

    ·         Are they complaining of a stomachache?

    ·         Do they have a sore throat?

    ·         Was the child sick over the weekend?

    ·         If your child has a fever of 100 degrees or more and has a cough or sore throat, these are influenza type symptoms and your child should stay home from school.

Your child should be completely well before sending him/her back to school.

The CDC recommends they be fever free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication before returning to school.

Call you health care provider with any questions or concerns about your child’s illness.
