Superintendent's Message

    Moshannon Valley

Greetings from Moshannon Valley School District

Dear Students, Parents, Employees and Friends of Moshannon Valley,

As we say goodbye to 2020, one of the more challening school years at Moshannon Valley amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, I would be remiss if I did not mention how proud I am of our students for following the requirements, participating when virtual, and engaging when in person showing a ready to learn attitude!  I also want to recognize the hard work our families have been doing to support the District.  Our virtual attendance has been excellent, families have kept students home when they were ill, and have remained in constant communication with the District for everything from attendance, to technology needs, to instructional plans - Thank you!

The 2021-2024 District Comprehensive Plan is completed and submitted to the Pennsylvania Department of Education.  A big thank you to all the parents, students, staff, and community members that contributed to the two-year planning process.

While many may disagree across the country, I believe it is a wonderful time to be excited about what the future holds for our students, staff, and families.  As I anticpated, the COVID-19 closure forced us to review many of our curricular practice and engagement strategies and our teachers have shown just what an excellent instructioanl staff we have.  Our significant investments in our curricular resources including Inspire Science [grades 3-10]; StudySync ELA [grades 7-11], GoMath [Grades K-11], Pearson Social Studies [Grades 7-12], and Second Step Social Emotional Learning [Grades K-8], have improved student engagement, combined more technology, and are improving student growth.  Know that as a District, we will continue to value students' ability self-regulate for their academic pursuits and success.  Moshannon Valley will be asking students to challenge themselves academically, asking administration and staff to challenge themselves professionally, and looking for the entire community to get excited for the future of Moshannon Valley.  Moshannon Valley in Taking PRIDE in everything we do!

To those not familiar with the school district, the Moshannon Valley School Board Members and I would like to welcome you!  We believe educating our children is the most important work done in our society.  Our commitment to the community is to promote every educational opportunity for our students while providing a safe and nurturing environment for all.  We are proud of our district and the collaborative efforts made in and out of the classroom that impact our students.  Our students and staff take pride in their school, their community, and in each other, because we believe that together we can make a difference in the lives of our students and staff.
