Greetings from Moshannon Valley School DistrictDear Students, Parents, Employees and Friends of Moshannon Valley,
The final marking period of the school year is upon us, and with 45 school days remaining Moshannon Valley welcomes the start of "testing season." Our faculty and staff worked hard to prepare our students academically, and for the next six weeks students will be taking either state or national tests. Please encourage your students to get plenty of rest, eat healthy, and be in attendance for the state tests.
Preparations for the District Comprehensive Planning Committee are underway, and our committee comprised of parents, students, staff, and community members met in January and March to focus on our academic goals. The next meeting is schedule for July. Contact the District Office if you are interested in participating.
Our library renovation, the "Collaboration Center," has all final approvals and construction begins in late April. The new facility will be open for the 2019-2020 school year. It is a wonderful time to be excited about what the future holds for our students, staff, and families. Know that as a District, we will continue to value students' ability self-regulate for their academic pursuits and success. Moshannon Valley will be asking student to challenge themselves academically, asking administration and staff to challenge themselves professionally, and looking for the entire community to ge excited for the future of Moshannon Valley.
In addition, the District is examining the possibility of moving to a unified starting time. The feasibility studies have been completed and support such a change. In late summer and fall, several public meetings will take place to provide information to families, to allow families to ask questions, and to fine tune the plans in hopes of having both schools on the same time schedule beginning in the fall of 2020.
